Kiss and Makeup

Lily has recently been asking if she can wear lipgloss whenever she steps foot out of the house. I was sort of forecasting these conversations for maybe six, seven years from now. This girly makeup gene comes not from me, I can assure you, I who didn't start wearing makeup (excluding high school dances) until around age nineteen, and actually still often leave the house with a naked face.

One of Lily's favorite games is to play makeup, which entails hauling out my makeup (yes, I have blogged about this before) and making up my face in any number of frightening combinations (mascara and my eyelash curler are off limits, though everything else is pretty much fair game). I love seeing Lily's enthusiasm, and alright, it's sort of like being pampered, but because the outcome is usually a little outrageous, it's not my most favorite game.

I've come up with a perfect solution--Henry. I can still enjoy the fun, but more as a spectator than a participant. The only problem is, Henry would rather apply his own makeup, than be made up. Wait, should I be worried about potential emotional scarring? Nah, it's too much fun.
