Our family has been reading a great book called Half Magic about four siblings who stumble upon an ancient magic coin that grants wishes, but only half of them, and many adventures ensue.
I've kind of been wondering if I've found some sort of wishing coin myself. The last month, I'd been grumbling more than usual about Phil's long hours at work. This combined with his part-time job and dissertation can leave little time for family time. A few weeks ago in a moment of acute frustration, and a little overreacting, I said to him on the phone, "I can't take this anymore! Either you quit, or I do!" It was then I noticed his phone had died. Maybe he never heard me, but someone certainly had. Due to cutbacks, Phil lost his job that week. The silver lining? He's home a lot more.
Then there was Gypsy, the shelter rescue that we did not need, nor could handle, that joined our family last week. Bread-stealing, nipping-at-Maisie, growling-at-the-kids, but-you-still-feel-sorry-for-him-Gypsy. Over and over again, I cursed my soft-heartedness and wished I'd never brought him home. Then last night, we let him out in the pouring rain to do his thing, and he took off, never to return. A blessing in disguise? I still feel terrible. He's sick and old. I just hope wherever he is, he's okay.
Whatever I do, I think I'd better reign in the wishing.

Oh Mar....I'm sorry. I guess just be more specific in the wishes????
How about you wish for a nice vaca to the Caribbean, a housecleaner, and cook. If your wishes are going to come true, at least make them wonderful, right? Your kiddos are adorable and growing so quickly, I cannot believe it!
Hi old friend! Your kids are beautiful. Can you believe how old Oscar and Veda are? Veda just finished kindergarten today and I'm depressed. I don't want them to get big and less cuddly and cute. :( We still aren't brave enough to move on to number 3 - don't know if we ever will be. Little Henry looks like he fits right in though!
