Disneyland Vacation

School for the week is finally over and we as a family went to spend a few days southwest of Loma Linda in Anaheim, California to relax at Disneyland. The intentions started off well when we left Loma Linda only a few hours behind our original scheduled departure time. We then went to get some good grub to start off our trip from Taco Schmell (Bell). A few of our friends were there so we ate with them. It was to be just a quick drive thru and eat on our way down to Anaheim. Well that didn't happen. Oscar was able to run around for awhile inside the Bell with his little friends Madelyn and Chandler. I was surprised that no one said anything because they were so loud and marking the whole restaurant as their territory. We had a good time and then we were even later in leaving for Anaheim. We made it down there and finally got Oscar and Lily to bed around 9:00pm (a little too late). We spent the evening in the hotel lobby listening to our baby monitor to know when he would finally nod off to sleep. We read and talked in the lobby and had a good time.

The next day we woke up early to make it to the park before it opened. Well we arrived at 9 am right when it opened. We spent a few wonderful hours walking around the park. Oscar, Lily, and I rode the train around part of the park and Oscar just loved it. He was so excited he couldn't stop saying "Choo, Choo" and "Tootle" (after a book about a train) and "train". We arrived in New Orleans Sqaure to meet up with Mommy. (she pushed the stroller while we took the train because we couldn't close the stroller to fit on the train). But then we met up with Mommy. Oscar was so excited to see her. He ran down from the train to meet her. It was very cute.

Oscar and Dad took some time around New Orleans Square while mom nursed Lily. We then went to ride Indiana Jones and the wait was too long. So we then went to ride Splash Mountain and that was a lot of fun. In addition, we rode the Pooh Bear ride. Oscar loved it. He just finished Heffalump the day before at our house. Oscar and Lily rode with Dad while mom was in line waiting for Splash Mountain. We were surprised to see mom at the exit when we left Pooh's ride. She said that Splash mountain was an hour longer than the signs were telling us. So we got Fast Passes and went again on Pooh's ride. Afterward, Mom and Oscar waited in line to meet and greet with Pooh Bear, Eeyore, and Tigger. Oscar loved them all. He hugged them and smiled so big. I came out of Pooh's ride with Lily and watched from outside the gate. He was so happy and cute. He smiled and hugged all the characters so much. It made us real happy to see him with such a big grin. It was also very fun to walk around the Pooh Store and have him recognize all the characters and for him to tell us all that he knew. We are such lucky parents. Our kids are happy, and striving to learn. Lily laughs so much with Oscar. She is just growing and getting bigger. We love to play with them both and it has been a nice weekend together spending some time with the kids since my Spring quarter ended on Thursday. However, my summer break is only the weekend for now. I start a summer block class on Monday. It is a quick class (only four days long).

Well that was about all that happened at Disneyland because Oscar started to get tired and seemed to feeling a little bit sick so we went back to the hotel and we all took naps. When we woke up Oscar had a big sore throat and did seem to be sick so we chilled at the apartment hoping that maybe Saturday morning we could go back to Disneyland and spend some time but that didn't work out again. Oscar's asthama kept him up a good portion of the night. We were real worried about him. He finally fell asleep but then was up about 5 or 6 times for about 2 or 3 hours from 12 am to 6 am. Then he was up for good. It gives me a greater appreciation for Marlene and all the times that she gets up without complaining ever. She is wonderful. I hope to become more like her. She is a good example of stalwart and faithful wife. I love her for that. She is a good example to Oscar and Lily. He is quite the gentlemen. Maybe we'll end up in the south--who knows but he will fit right in.

I'll post some pictures too about the trip. I hope that everyone is doing well. We here in southern california are doing great. We miss family and friends that are scattered throughout the west and east. We'll miss even more JP and MaryAnn who will be in Arizona before long.
